As part of the Early Abilities Preschool Speech and Language Program, the Centre provides support to children with speech and language concerns in the east service area of the City of Toronto. Early Abilities offers the following services to children until school entry: assessment, consultation to parents and community-based children’s programs, parent training and information sessions, consultation and training for caregivers and other professionals; group and individual speech and language intervention, and referral to a wide range of child and family services in the community.
The Centre works in multi-agency partnerships with Toronto Public Health (the lead agency), and other service providers including Adventure Place, The Macaulay Child Development Centre, The George Hull Centre, and Hanen Centre.
The program strives to provide communication skill development to preschool children. The mission of the Early Abilities Preschool Speech and Language program is to provide exemplary identification and intervention services, responsive to cultural and linguistic diversity, in partnership with community agencies, to enable all preschool children in Toronto to reach their highest communication potential.
